SOCIAL AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT

This department of Iqraa foundation seeks to promote the welfare of families and individuals. Particular attention will be given to issues affecting women. Trainings meant to empower women will be arranged by the foundation. Besides that, the foundation will also arrange a platform to advance women’s knowledge of Islam. This in turn, we believe, will shape the entire community to the better. The foundation promotes healthy relationship between spouses. However, if conflict of minor nature arises, it will seek to resolve it as well as directing them to other local community resources in the UK.

RELIEF AND DEVELOPMENT

At the core of Iqraa foundation is the promotion of a fair society. To this end, the foundation will work to assist Ethiopian community both here in the UK and back in Ethiopia. The foundation aspires to contribute to different relief and development packages run in Ethiopia by both non-governmental organizations and by the state. Providing support to needy orphans, constructing water wells in rural parts of the country and supporting religious institutions which work with children from poor families, are among the many goals the foundation wants to accomplish.

EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

Education plays a pivotal role in the development of any society. Taking this into account, the foundation aspires to provide both essential trainings and Islamic education to the community. The department also seeks to promote the culture of reading toits members and beyond by having book reviews on its weekly gathering and sharing this on social media. Different Islamic courses will also be provided by Muslim Scholars. The foundation also encourages Ethiopians both here in the UK and Ethiopia to enroll themselves in formal schooling for the betterment of our community here UK in particular and our native country in general.

MEDIA DEPARTMENT

This department takes in to account the very important role of media in informing people about issues affecting their lives. Media is so important that it is considered as the fourth branch of government after the executive, legislative and the judiciary. As a result, this department strives to have its own online platforms which mainly target the Muslim population of Ethiopia. However, it also addresses issues affecting Ethiopians as a whole. To this end, the foundation is currently training five of its members on film production and issues related with this.
